Research field)

In the last years my interest has been focused on the study of the response of plants to environmental and biotic stress, mainly by means of a proteomic approach, which involved also the study of post-translational modifications of proteins. like phosphorylation. Arabidopsis thaliana plants have been subjected to temperature stress or challenged by plant pathogen elicitors and the response analyzed by 2D-electrophoresis and mass-spectrometry. A second issue concerns the characterization of the effects of plant secondary metabolites or fungal phytotoxins like fusicoccin and ophiobolin in plant and in human cells. At present a project concerning the involvement of the Unfolded Protein response (UPR) in the defense response of Arabidopsis plants to elicitor challenge or to the fungus Drechslera gigantea is under progress.
