Prof. Alberto Bardelli is Full Professor at the University of Turin and Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Oncology at the Candiolo Cancer Institute FPO ‐ IRCCS of Candiolo, Turin.
His group has developed post-genomic technologies to perform the mutational profiling of entire gene families. This approach was initially applied to identify molecular alterations in genes involved in signal transduction such as kinases and phosphatases, in a number of cancer genomes. The results of these studies have been translated to basic and clinical oncology using two major strategic avenues:
A) The identification of mutations underlying the response of cancer patients to innovative targeted therapies
B) The construction of isogenic cellular models of tumor progression carrying the mutations found in cancer patients. (Source: Link)
